Spennymoor Town have been drawn at home to AFC Telford United in the Third Round of the Buildbase FA Trophy on Saturday 2 February 2019.
The Moors swept aside National League form-side Sutton United on Saturday thanks to two thunder-strikes from top scorer Glen Taylor and a third from Andrew Johnson.
The performance has been hailed by many as the Moors’ finest showing this season in front of 760 supporters at The Brewery Field.
Telford currently sit fourth in the Naitonal League North and beat Hartlepool United in the Second Round on Saturday.
Jason Ainsley hailed the Spennymoor Supporters’ performance as much as his players after the victory over Sutton.
He said: “We had to make The Brewery Field a difficult place to come today and I think Sutton will leave knowing that’s the case.
“Especially considering we’ve had so many games in such a short space of time, the players were immense and I think they got that from the fans.
“We’ve cried out over the last few weeks for more support and we’re really pleased with that today. We always appreciate the support we receive but it felt particularly vocal today and, as you can tell, it really spurred us on.
“The fans should be going home happy having witnessed what I believe is one of the best overall performances and results in my time here.”
Today’s draw means Spennymoor’s scheduled away trip to Altrincham in the National League North will be rescheduled. Information on the new date for this fixture, as well as entry prices for the FA Trophy match will be announced in due course.
