Buddle makes the switch to Spennymoor

Nathan Buddle has joined Spennymoor Town from fellow National League North side Blyth Spartans.

Buddle has spent two seasons in the National League North with Blyth Spartans.

Buddle, 25, began his career with Hartlepool United before moving to Croft Park for the first of his three spells with the club.

The defender spent time at League Two side Carlisle, as well as playing in the same team as James Curtis, Rob Ramshaw and Jamie Chandler at Gateshead.

After joining the club, he said: “I’ve spoken to Jason on and off over the past few years, but the time hasn’t been right for both of us.

“Once I sat down with the management team after the play-off games, they really impressed me. I’ve always been aware of Spennymoor and the progress they have made, so now feels like the right time for me.

“The club want to keep moving up and I think we have a big chance of finishing near the top and maybe even winning the league.

“That is one of the main factors for me leaving Blyth. I’ve had a great time there and I have no regrets, but I feel like this is the next progression for me now.

“Hopefully I can contribute at both ends of the pitch and grab a few goals as well as keep clean sheets.”

Manager Jason Ainsley said: “I got the impression straight away that he really wants to be here.

“I’ve spoke to Nathan on numerous occasions but I didn’t feel as though the time was right for both parties, but I believe now is the perfect time.

“After losing two central defenders it was important to get in a physical and imposing player in that position, and I think he fits that description.

“He’s good in both boxes as he has proved by scoring against Spennymoor in the past.

“He is a local lad and he already knows a few of the lads here and gets on well with them, and I think that is massively important.

“I think he will flourish this season. I am really looking forward to seeing him in a Spennymoor shirt.”
