emirates fa cup second qualifying round
203 days ago, the final whistle blew to signal the end of Spennymoor Town’s resounding 4-0 victory over Hereford in the National League North.
Unbeknown to everyone connected with the club, the final whistle would also signal the end of the 2019/20 season and an unprecedented break from football due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
After months of uncertainty and planning, the 2020/21 campaign finally gets underway on Saturday afternoon with an FA Cup Second Round Qualifying clash at Bradford (Park Avenue).
Moors rounded off pre-season preparations on Tuesday evening with a 4-2 win against Blyth Spartans as The Brewery Field hosted it’s first game in over six months, with Carl Magnay, Jason Kennedy, Jordan Boon and Rob Ramshaw grabbing the goals.
That victory followed positive results against Newton Aycliffe, Bridlington Town, Whitby Town and Lancaster City, and with a cluster of new signings given time to integrate into the squad, Jason Ainsley’s side are ready for the action to begin.
James Curtis will miss the tie as he serves the final game of his three-match suspension from the end of last season, while recent signing Scott McLean will have to wait to make his competitive debut as he is also serving a suspension.
