Spennymoor fell to their second consecutive defeat after Bradley Reid’s header and a double from Darryl Knight sealed a 3-1 win for Tamworth.
Reid, a constant thorn in Moors backline, met Matt Curley’s pinpoint cross to head past Dan Lowson after ten minutes.
Kallum Griffith’s brought Spennymoor level shortly after half time, firing a free-kick past a helpless Shaun Rowley for his second goal of the season.
Moors were only on level terms for a matter of minutes however, as Darryl Knights fired low and hard past Lowson after being played in by Callum Powell.
Knights put the result beyond doubt when he curled in a free-kick from the edge of the box five minutes from time.
The home side were the better side from the outset, with Aman Verma heading over early on from a corner.
Moors failed to head the warning and Reid gave Tamworth the lead on ten minutes, finding space in the area and planting a fierce header past the despairing Dan Lowson.
Mark Anderson had Spennymoor’s best opportunity soon after they fell behind, but he couldn’t force the ball past the keeper after Jake Orrell found him at the back post.
Tamworth’s set-pieces continued causing Moors issues, and after James Curtis cleared well under pressure from a Stephan Morley free-kick, Powell and Reid both had chances to double their advantage from the resulting corner kicks.
Jason Ainsley made a double switch at half time in an attempt to change the pattern of the game, replacing Andrew Johnson and Jake Orrell with Jamie Chandler and Bradley Fewster.
The changes seemed to have changed the fortunes of a frustrated Moors outfit when Griffiths arrowed in a fabulous free-kick after Glen Taylor had been hauled to the ground off the ball.
Tamworth, seemingly unfased by the equaliser, regained the lead four minutes later. The dangerous Powell broke from midfield, slipped past James Curtis, then delivered a through ball to Darryl Knights who fired across Lowson to the delight of the home fans.
As the game grew into its later stages, Spennymoor began to carve out chances, with Glen Taylor narrowly firing past the post after being fed by Rob Ramshaw.
The result was put beyond Moors reach when Knights scored his second of the game, bending in a powerful free-kick after Jamie Chandler had committed a foul on Reid.
The loss means Spennymoor are without a win in five games since a 3-0 victory at Boston United on August 22nd. They travel to struggling North Ferriby United on Tuesday night.
