Billingham Synthonia FCSpennymoor
1 - 11Full Time
A clinical second half showing saw Spennymoor hit double figures against Billingham Synthonia as they recorded their second win of pre-season.
A fairly dull and uneventful opening half hour was brought to life when full-back Stephen Brogan perfectly placed a free-kick into the top corner.
Glen Taylor built on his goal at the weekend against Scarborough Athletic by ruthlessly finishing minutes later after he collected a neat through ball.
Jake Hibbs and Mark Anderson both missed golden opportunities to make it three goals in quick succession, but the former hit the bar from close range before the latter slid an effort wide.
The home side, who apply their trade in the Northern League, rarely posed a threat to Matthew Gould, but after a long ball caused confusion, Synthonia striker Louis Johnson was able to convert from close range.
The half time break saw Jason Ainsley rotate his squad, with the fresh players injecting a new burst of energy as Moors turned the screw in the second period.
Moors scored three goals in the space of six minutes shortly after the break to put the game out of reach for the home side.
Taylor grabbed his second with a fierce strike before quickly adding his third courtesy of some fabulous wing play from Ryan Hall.
Four became five two minutes later, and after threatening to grab a goal throughout the match to that point, Andrew Johnson netted a trademark effort after beating his man for pace before sliding the ball past a forlorn Synthonia goalkeeper.
Mark Anderson, who returned to action after missing the weekend game at Scarborough, hammered in a close-range effort on the hour mark to make it six, but Moors were not done there, as Rob Ramshaw, who was introduced only moments earlier, found the corner from the edge of the area.
David Foley then entered the fray twenty minutes from time and quickly helped himself to a treble, with the first bringing the purest moment of quality of the game.
A regular scorer of tremendous goals, Foley dummied a pass from Jamie Chandler, allowing Anderson to flick the ball into his path, before firing first time past the keeper.
He doubled his personal account soon after, hammering in from close range, before Chandler arrowed in from the angle.
Foley scored a carbon copy of Chandler’s goal a few minutes from time to complete the rout and seal a convincing win for Jason Ainsley’s side.
Moors continue their pre-season schedule on Saturday when they host National League side Hartlepool United.
