Spennymoor Town FC is the highest-ranked football club in County Durham. Since Chief Executive Bradley Groves took control of the club in 2009, it has experienced rapid and significant progression up the non-league pyramid.
As members of the Vanarama National League North, the club is now competing at the highest level in its history, currently sitting comfortably in a playoff position and considering the significant possibility of making another leap up to the National League next year.
On the pitch, Spennymoor is competing with full-time clubs and household names on a regular basis. The likes of Stockport County, York City and Kidderminster Harriers have all gone toe-to-toe with Jason Ainsley’s side this season and The Moors have performed beyond all expectations to this point.
Off the pitch, significant developments to the matchday experience have taken place this season, making hospitality at The Brewery Field one of the best days out in the National League North. There are further essential improvements required to meet ground regulations in the current league and the league above, which the club must adhere to in coming months. This will need further considerable investment in the stadium and more improvements to the management of the club as a whole, as the club looks to keep pace with fully professional competitors, cement itself at this level of football and maintain its current rate of progress.
With its own on-site club shop, official club pub (The Moors Tavern) and growing relationships with major North East businesses, Spennymoor Town has evolved into more than a sports club – it is now a powerhouse at the heart of the Spennymoor and North East communities.
The club now seeks to appoint an experienced, commercially astute leader with a combination of robust financial acumen, coupled with an ardent interest in football. Their role will be to develop, drive, inspire and lead a cohesive and inclusive commercial strategy for the club as its trajectory of impressive growth and success continues both on and off the pitch. This exceptionally strong character will steer and encourage partnership between all areas of a fast-moving sporting and leisure environment, whilst endeavouring to maximise a commercial return for the business as well as building alliances and links with both the local community and other corporate organisations.
The role will report directly into the Chairman, alongside other board members and investors, with the aim of creating a unified local football club, consolidating the existing working partnerships between the first team, Academy, Management, on site hospitality, The Moors Tavern, external stakeholders, sponsors and other associated alliances.
