Spennymoor have signed 23-year-old goalkeeper Shane Bland from Whitby Town.
Bland, who spent four seasons with the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division side, began his career at Middlesbrough.
The shot-stopper made 221 appearances in five season’s at Whitby Town and kept 17 clean sheets in 2016/17. Bland has saved four penalties this season.
His arrival will boost Moors’ goalkeeping options, with Dan Lowson and Jordan Porter also vying for the number one position.
Bland, speaking after signing for Moors, said: “I can’t wait to get going and meet the lads. When I found out the club were interested in me it was a no-brainer, as it’s a step up for me and will improve me as a player.
“I’ve obviously known about the club’s rise over the years having seen them win promotions and achieve success. I have faced them a few times during my time with Middlesbrough too.
“I am a goalkeeper who does the basics right and I love nothing more than keeping clean sheets. I’d say my main strengths are my kicking and setting up counter attacks.
“The aim is to win trophies and achieve success with the club. It’s important to take it step by step. It’s been a frustrating two weeks trying to get the deal sorted, but now that it’s done I am ready to go.”
Manager Jason Ainsley spoke of his delight after securing Bland’s services: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Shane Bland to the football club.
“Shane is a very highly regarded young goalkeeper who has a wealth of experience for his age and excellent distribution skills, which I’m sure will be a great asset to us. I’m sure everyone will give Shane a very warm welcome.”
