Loan deal for Pools striker halted

The club can confirm that the deal previously in place with Hartlepool United to sign Jake Orrell on a one month loan has been cancelled.

The arrangement was not pursued after issues with FA clearance prevented the 19-year-old from linking up with Moors ahead of their home draw with Buxton in February.

The delay has prompted a rethink from Hartlepool, who have now decided not to loan the striker out.

Spennymoor Manager Jason Ainsley said: “Modern day football is never straight forward, so these complications can happen.  We’re obviously disappointed not to have brought a talent like Jake to The Brewery Field because he would have given us a different option.  But there are no hard feelings towards Hartlepool; they have done what they think is right by their club and Jake, so we’ll take it on the chin and move on.

“One of the things Jake would have provided was a lift in the spirits of the players and the fans, but we’ve managed to do that anyway with Tuesday night’s win over Blyth and the manner in which we performed in that game.”

Gateshead starlet Thomas White did extend his stay at Spennymoor last week, however.  The midfielder has impressed while on an initial one month loan and has started two games since adding a second month to the deal.
