Spennymoor Town manager Jason Ainsley has won the National League North Manager of the Month award for September.
Ainsley, who previously collected the accolade in January, steered Moors to wins over Leamington, Nuneaton Borough and Hereford, plus a draw at Southport.
Ten points from a possible twelve in the league has seen Moors end the month in 4th ahead of games against Ashton United, Brackley, Curzon Ashton and York in October.
After receiving the award, Ainsley was quick to praise the team around him: “It’s not just for me, it’s a collective effort. Of course, it’s a nice accolade but it’s an accolade that’s warranted to the players as they have been magnificent, as well as Tommy, Midge, Oatesy and Baz. You are only as good as the people around you.
“The Hereford game sticks out as the highlight for me as it was a ground I had never been to with a fantastic crowd and facilities. It ticked another box in terms of where Spennymoor have been and puts us that bit more on the map. Hereford certainly knew who Spennymoor were after the game.
“We are a decent side but have a long way to go, and we certainly won’t be resting on our laurels as football has a habit of kicking you in the teeth when awards like this come along. It’s important we continue the level of performances we showed in September and carry them into October.
“The award is not just for me, it’s for everyone concerned with the Football Club.”
