Spennymoor Town’s National League North fixture against Blyth Spartans, scheduled for Tuesday 6th August at The Brewery Field, has a new date.
The match will now take place on Tuesday 10th September, 7.45pm, three days after Moors entertain King’s Lynn Town.
Work on a new playing surface, including a sprinkler system and specialist drainage, which is football league standard, has been ongoing over the summer.
Because of the significance of the improvements taking place and the severe weather during June, which delayed works by 10 days, the club is fully aware that the new pitch needs time to bed in correctly to prevent any teething issues during its maiden season.
The decision to move the game was made following the advice of an agronomist, who has advised the club superbly in the installation of the new playing surface to date.
Despite the best efforts of the ground staff, the club contacted the league and Blyth Spartans requesting for the game to be moved to a later date.
We would like to thank the National League for allowing us to switch the fixture and for understanding our situation.
We would also like to thank Blyth for their co-operation and for recognising the special circumstances which has led us to this decision.
Our home game against Boston United, scheduled for Saturday 10th August, is still to be confirmed following a report from our agronomist.
