Winger Rees Greenwood has been sent on loan to Northern League Division One side West Auckland for a month.
Greenwood, who was brought in over the summer, has struggled to force his way into Jason Ainsley’s plans and is yet to play in the league this season.
The 23-year-old was on the bench against Curzon Ashton on Bank Holiday Monday, marking the first occasion he has been selected in the match day squad in 2019/20.
Manager Jason Ainsley feels the move will benefit both parties in the long run: “Rees has worked hard since he has come into the club, but in terms of fitness levels he is behind the lads who play in his position.
“The loan benefits him as it allows him to go and get some game time rather than sitting on the bench and getting five or ten minutes at the end of the game.
“West Auckland have six games over the next month so that was in my thinking, as Rees can go there and get a good run of games under his belt.
“He should come back refreshed and ready to kick on. There’s no doubting his quality as a footballer. He just needs to get some game time.”
