Forbes "looking forward to getting started" after signing for Moors

Jason Ainsley has strengthened his defensive options with the signing of former Fleetwood and Brighton and Hove Albion full-back Tyler Forbes.

Forbes, 23, began his youth career at Preston North End, before joining Fleetwood in the summer of 2014 following his release.

After an injury to first-team right back Connor McLaughlin, Forbes was given a chance in the Fleetwood side and impressed – making a total of 38 appearances for the League One side.

He scored twice in his time playing for the Cod Army, once away at Wigan Athletic in a 2-1 defeat – and against Bury FC in a 4-3 victory.

Hopefully we can go one better than we did last season.”

At the end of the 2015/16 season, he joined Brighton for an undisclosed fee – signing for two years, linking up with their Development Squad.

A short loan spell in the 2017-18 season to Accrington Stanley came before Forbes made a permanent switch to Newport County last season, where he made 20 appearances over the course of the season.

Forbes made the switch to AFC Fylde of the National League in September 2019, making six appearances and scoring one goal during his time with The Coasters.
After linking up with the first team squad for the first time, Forbes looked ahead to his time at the club: “I was speaking to one of the lads I spent time with at one of my old clubs and he mentioned that Jason was looking to add a right back to his squad.
“I rang Jason and it has gone from there. He has told me that this club has a great dressing room and fan base, so I am looking forward to getting started and kicking on.
“I definitely think this could be the club where I settle down at after a couple of spells in recent years. I just need to play games, and after speaking with the gaffer he has told me if I train and conduct myself well, I will be given an opportunity.
“Hopefully we can go one better than we did last season.”
Manager Ainsley said: “Tyler is a quality player who we have kept an eye on for a while, and it’s an area we need competition in.
“He has gained experience at a higher level during his time in League One with Fleetwood at a young age, and will bring speed, strength and a positive attitude training and winning games.
“We wish Tyler all the best for the remainder of the season.”
You can watch Tyler in action for the first time this Saturday as we take on Kettering Town at The Brewery Field.
