Saturday brings together two of the form sides in the National League North as Moors host Alfreton Town at The Brewery Field.

Following a month of progression after a tricky start to 2020, Spennymoor have collected 11 points from their previous five games, one point more than opponents Alfreton, currently occupying 13th place in the division.

The Reds, under the guidance of Billy Heath, are eight points behind Moors with a game in hand, meaning they boast an outside chance of making the play-off’s at the end of the campaign.

Four wins from their previous six, coinciding with the arrival of striker Danny Elliott on loan from Chester, has transformed the mood around the club after a tough beginning to the year. Connor Branson’s goal was enough to see off the ten men of Leamington on Tuesday evening, building on recent home success over Hereford and Gloucester.

However, their away form has been hit and miss, with their 1-1 draw at Farsley a fortnight ago their first in 15 trips on the road in 2019/20. Moors rarely slip up at home and their solidity and consistency at The Brewery Field has been one of the major reasons a play-off place is within reach.

Ten wins from 15 home clashes, with the latest a stunning 3-2 success over Altrincham, has been the springboard for Jason Ainsley and his squad this campaign.
