Statement on commencement of 2020/21 season

Following confirmation that the 2020/21 National League North season will commence as planned next week without supporters in attendance, Spennymoor Town FC has made three options available to those who have purchased season tickets to date.

The club has worked hard over the last week to create a Moors TV Live streaming option, which will provide high quality live video coverage of all Spennymoor Town matches this season.  In line with the club’s Affordable Football For All strategy, this will be available on a game-by-game basis at an affordable price.

Season ticket holders have paid a maximum of £6.19 (adults) per game to purchase their ticket.  The Moors TV Live stream will be priced at £6.00 per game to watch.

Holders have three options:

  • Use their season ticket as a season pass to the streaming service and stream every home National League North game for free at no extra cost
  • Request a refund on the value of their season ticket
  • Defer the season ticket until next season

Tony Wilson, Managing Director of Spennymoor Town FC, said: “We have spent considerable time, effort and money on ensuring our supporters have been looked after financially since the pandemic began.  This is no different now we know supporters cannot attend National League North matches.

“We have put significant time and even further investment into our new streaming service, which we believe will be amongst the best in non-league football.

“It is no secret that this is a seriously harmful time for football clubs at our level and much higher in the pyramid.  Everyone in non-league is waiting with bated breath to discover whether, and to what extent, the government will support us whilst we struggle with no matchday revenue.

“We are so grateful to those who have put their faith in us at a time of uncertainty and purchased a season ticket.  I am also thrilled that we have sold a record number of tickets despite so many people deciding the risk was too great.  It shows how far the club has come and what an attraction we are to football fans.

“The club officials, the players, the staff and, of course, Moors supporters are all in this together.  We do need your help to keep the club in a healthy position during a crisis for the whole sport.

“I hope those who can help us by taking up the streaming pass or deferring their ticket do so.  I am confident that by the time supporters can return to football grounds they will consider it money well spent.

“Of course, streaming pass season tickets will still be valid for ground entry when this becomes a reality.

“In order to create streaming passes in time for Tuesday’s kick off, we need to introduce a tight timescale on this decision.  I would ask all supporters to share this message with fellow season ticket holders who may not see the internet in time.  Let them know the deadline to sign up for streaming is tomorrow evening (Friday, 10PM).

“People who are not online can visit the Moors Tavern to complete a hard copy application for any of these options, but streaming applications must be completed by 10PM tomorrow (Friday 2nd October).

“Once again, I’d like to thank everyone who has showed faith in us by purchasing a ticket in record numbers.  We are working tirelessly to make sure you will all get a fantastic experience with our live stream and I know the team will deliver fireworks on the pitch to match!”

HOW TO MAKE YOUR CHOICE

REFUNDS

Please complete a refund application using the link below.  You will need to input your card details to provide the refund.

As a club, we do not hold any card details for purchases for security reasons and will also delete the data you provide when all refunds have been complete.

You must complete the short form once FOR EACH SEASON TICKET YOU PURCHASED.  EG if you bought a ticket for yourself (adult), your parent (concession) and your child (junior) you must complete the form three times.

Hard copy refund application forms are now available in The Moors Tavern during opening hours for those who aren’t online.  These will not be paid out of the till at the Tavern, but will be completed via bank transfer at the same time as online applications.  Like the above, a hard copy form must be completed for EACH SEASON TICKET YOU PURCHASED.

As each application is to be verified manually and refunded individually, this process will take several working days.  Queries should be directed to [email protected].  However, queries chasing a payment date will not be responded to until after 16th October.

A DEADLINE FOR REFUND APPLICATIONS WILL BE COMMUNICATED NEXT WEEK.
