The Brewery Field to become local donation hub

Spennymoor Town Football Club is delighted to announce a new scheme which will help disadvantaged people in the local area.

Following a tough year for many, the club has decided to mobilise its significant reach in the area to those who are in need with the festive period fast approaching.

The Brewery Field will become a drop off point over the next few weeks leading up to Christmas, and we are encouraging supporters and local residents to help us support those people who need it most.

The club will welcome any food donations, with tinned vegetables, sugar, baked beans and pasta examples of some of the most requested items. However, all items of food are welcome.

All food contributions will be directly supporting elderly people that live alone and have been isolating over the past few months the Spennymoor area.

Managing Director, Tony Wilson, addressed the need to help those who are struggling after a turbulent and uncertain 2020.

He said: “As a Football club, we need to use our deep roots in the community to make a difference to people’s lives as the year reaches its conclusion.

“Of course, we are all aware that it will be a very different and difficult Christmas period, but, some people will especially find themselves in desperate need of help and support.

“The club and supporter base has always been generous in this regard and the need is greater than ever, so we are using The Brewery Field as a hub for the scheme.

“This year has been a challenge for everyone, but, it’s important we support the elderly and vulnerable and give generously.

“We are now working with other parts of the Group to create a new community impact strategy, which will see Spennymoor Town Football Club play a key role in delivering further social value in 2021. More will be released on this soon.”
