Sunderland friendly to be all-ticket event

The club can confirm its pre-season fixture against Sunderland at The Brewery Field will be an all-ticket event for season ticket holders only.

Following Monday’s government announcement and after discussions with Sunderland AFC, local authorities, the police and DCMS, the attendance for the game will be capped at 1,122.

Tickets will only be on sale to 2021/22 Spennymoor Town season ticket holders, who will be able to purchase one ticket each.

Spennymoor Town Youth Football Club players will also be able to purchase one ticket per person via their season ticket, plus a guardian where required.

Tickets for all age brackets will be priced at a flat rate of £10.

Managing Director, Tony Wilson, said: “As a club we were obviously disappointed to learn that restrictions would be in place for a further four weeks following the government’s announcement.

“This fixture was an opportunity for the club to generate much needed funds, however, as has been the case throughout the pandemic, safety must come first at Spennymoor Town.

“This is a joint decision between both clubs and the relevant authorities.

“At our level of football away fans are still not permitted in grounds, which has determined that we can only sell tickets to 2021/22 season ticket holders.

“Season ticket holders will have eight days to purchase their ticket, before our Academy players have the opportunity to purchase on a first come first served basis.

“They will only be available to purchase physically from The Brewery Field during opening times to maximise accessibility for season ticket holders and academy players of all ages.

“We are aware that there will many disappointed fans who will not be able to attend the game, however, we must follow guidelines amidst a resurgence of Covid cases in the region.”
