Following an impressive opening day win at Boston United, Spennymoor return to The Brewery Field on Saturday hoping to start the season with maximum points in front of a returning Moors fan base.

Southport are the visitors, with Liam Watson’s side searching for their first win of the campaign after a 2-2 draw with Gloucester City last weekend.

Moors’ previous competitive fixture on home soil was against The Sandgrounders in a FA Trophy clash last December. Following a 2-2 draw after extra time, Tommy Miller suffered his only defeat as Spennymoor Manager following Ben McKenna’s miss in the resulting penalty shootout.

Much has changed since that afternoon played against a backdrop of no supporters and Miller in his early days as Interim Manager.

Moors have the upper hand when it comes to previous encounters, with Adam Blakeman and Glen Taylor securing a comfortable victory between the sides in 2020/21.

In fact, Spennymoor are unbeaten against Port in since promotion to the National League North in 2017, winning four and drawing two of the six league meetings.
