Mason returns

Spennymoor Town has signed former captain and club legend Chris Mason on a non-contract basis.

Mason, 35, is one of the club’s most successful players having played key parts in promotions; cup wins; memorable achievements; and, of course, the FA Vase win in 2013.

Mason said: “I was approached by Tommy to return to the club a few weeks ago and for me it was no brainer.

“I obviously have a very strong link and in-depth knowledge of Spennymoor Town having spent the majority of my career here.

“I have some amazing memories at this club and only want to help the current lads progress and push on.”

Manager Tommy Miller said: “Chris has been training with us for a few weeks and featured for the Under 23 side at the weekend.

“It’s an area I’ve been keen to strengthen due to injuries, and Chris is someone who knows the league, club and can fit straight in to dressing room.”

Mason is in the squad for tonight’s National League North fixture with Brackley Town.
