Moors bring in Richardson on loan

Spennymoor Town has acquired the services of defender Kenton Richardson on a 28-day loan from League One side Sunderland.

The 22-year-old, who can operate on the right and centrally, joins up with the squad and is available for selection against Bradford (Park Avenue) on Saturday.

The right-back made his senior debut for Hartlepool United back in 2017 and went on to make 43 appearances, 11 of which were in Sky Bet League Two.

Following the expiration of his contract with Pools, Richardson joined Sunderland on a two-year deal, initially joining the club’s under-23 side under Lewis Dickman.

Richardson sealed a one-month loan to National League side Notts County in March 2021 before returning to the Stadium of Light.

Manager Tommy Miller said: “I know Kenton well from his time at Hartlepool so this is a good move for both parties.

“He is adaptable and can play in a number of positions which gives me good options moving forward.

“I would like to thank Sunderland for allowing the move to take place.”

Richardson will take the number 19 shirt during his time with the club.
