The Brewery Field
Buildbase FA Trophy Second Round
chorley
Spennymoor will be hoping a change of competition halts a winless run which stretched to seven games last weekend, with Chorley visitors in the FA Trophy this evening.
Paul Blackett’s winner ten minutes from time made it seven games without victory for Tommy Millers’ side, with five of those ending in defeat.
There were positive signs in the second half following Joe Tait’s dismissal four minutes before the break, with a resolute defensive showing leading to an excellent Scott McLean equaliser.
The Trophy may represent a welcome break from the demands of the National League North, but opponents Chorley are one of the sides chasing down front runners AFC Fylde at the summit of the division.
It’s been over two years since the previous meeting between the two teams, with that fixture also taking place in the cup – a Fourth Qualifying Round Emirates FA Cup tie at Victory Park.
