Ian Geldard appointed General Manager

Following the announcement that Tony Wilson is set to retire from his role as Managing Director, several structural changes will be made following the conclusion of the 2021/22 season.

Ian Geldard will become Club General Manager and be responsible for all non-football related matters, including, but not limited to, the running of ground operations, hospitality and matchdays at The Brewery Field.

Matthew Hannon will step down from his role as Hospitality Manager after Saturday’s final league game of the campaign against Chorley.

Luke Cowie has been appointed as Community Development Manager to develop and oversee the club’s community outreach activities.

Geldard, 32, has been involved with the GF Community Foundation and has rooted links with the town and the club, as well as a strong commercial and sales background.

He said: “I’m more than proud to be taking on this role with a club that is at the heart of my lifelong hometown; a community I have been heavily involved in for a number of years.

“Having played a role on match days throughout the season, I’m aware of what is required to deliver the best off-field experience for supporters, sponsors and guests.

“Tony has left a lasting legacy at Spennymoor Town which has taken the club to new heights, and I wish him all the best in his retirement.

“My role will see me cover the gaps left by Tony and Matthew’s respective departures, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Hannon joined the club in November 2019 and has played a major role in the growth of the club’s Hospitality set-up and delivery.

He said: “I’d just like to place on record my thanks to everyone involved in the club, not least Brad and Tony who have been more than supportive to me during my time.

“I’m happy with the job my team and myself have put in to leave it where it is today. It has been a hard decision for me to make but an important personal one.

“I have a young family which has only grown since my time here which has accelerated my decision.

“I wish Ian all the best in his new role with the club and it will only progress under his leadership.”
