Moors moved up to eighth in the National League North table as Jude Oyibo’s wondergoal earned them all three points against Leamington at Your Co-Op Community Stadium.
Oyibo’s brilliant strike on the hour proved the game’s decisive moment but Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley’s men were full value for their three points in Warwickshire.
There was an early opening for the hosts when Dan Turner escaped down the middle but good work from Joe Tait thwarted the forward before Leamington skipper Adam Walker drove the loose ball over the bar.
Jude Oyibo began causing problems for Moors though and his work on the left helped set-up up Glen Taylor, who found a yard to let fly with a low shot which was well held by home keeper Callum Hawkins.
Moors began to dominate in terms of possession but were struggling to penetrate a well-drilled Leamington defence, though Finn Cousin-Dawson did send a looping header on goal after more good work from Oyibo, but it was again dealt with by Hawkins.
And Oyibo was again the creative spark just before half time when he rescued a half-cleared set-piece and hooked a ball into Taylor whose looping header dropped just the wrong side of the post.
The hosts had their best chance in the early moment of the second half when a ball in from the left was only half cleared and Adam Walker’s drive flew just over the bar.
Glen Taylor then led a Moors counter-attack as he broke forward towards the edge of the box and opted to have a go on goal himself but his dipping shot was held by Hawkins.
However, the Brakes’ keeper was left powerless on 61 minutes when Jude Oyibo stuck Moors in front. Receiving the ball short from a right-wing corner, Oyibo twisted one way then the other to work the space on his right foot and rammed an unstoppable drive across Hawkins and into the top corner for 1-0.
Taylor could have made it 2-0 on 70 minutes when he stopped at the back post to meet Scott Duxbury’s deep corner, but his header flashed over the bar.
Oyibo almost added to his tally in bizarre circumstances 12 minutes from time. He scampered on to a ball over the top when Hawkins raced from his line and inadvertently cleared the ball against Oyibo and ricocheted agonisingly wide of the post.
The home side ramped up the pressure in the closing stages and defender Jack Lane rattled the post with a low drive before substitute Alex Prosser curled an effort just wide from the edge of the box.
However, Moors finished strongly, and Jamie Chandler had a chance to make the game safe in injury time but rifled his shot too high.
