Moors Ladies begin their 2022/23 NERWFL Northern Division campaign this Sunday with a trip to local rivals Hartlepool United Women (2pm kick-off).

The game sees new manager, Billy Shackleton and his staff oversee their first competitive game in charge of the club after joining Moors during the summer.

Moors come into the game off the back of a tough pre-season schedule which saw them face higher league opponents in the majority of their friendlies, culminating in a brilliant 4-3 victory over Premier Division Wallsend last weekend.

Shackleton will have a near fully fit squad to select from on Sunday. However, Monika Kisicka is still recovering from a collarbone injury sustained in pre-season, whilst Ebony Thompson & Julia McGovern are unavailable for the season opener.

“We’ve worked hard throughout pre-season and it’s all been focused on the campaign ahead,” said Shackleton.

“The girls and I can’t wait to get going and are hopeful of a positive result against a tough Hartlepool side.

“They’re a side I know pretty well having worked with them last season in the Premier Division and they’ll be looking to bounce back at the first time of asking.

“The support we’ve received from fans has been fantastic all pre-season and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at Hartlepool on Sunday.”

The game takes place at Grayfields Sports Pavilion in Hartlepool at 2pm and entry is free.
