Spennymoor Town’s Ladies Team are hoping for bumper turnouts from supporters when they play two of their fixtures at The Brewery Field in October.
Moors Ladies will take to the First Team pitch for their big County Cup tie against local rivals Gateshead on Sunday 16th October (1.30pm kick-off).
They will then also play at the stadium when they play host to Chester-le-Street United in the North East Regional Women’s Football League Northern Division on Sunday 30th October (2pm kick-off).
“We absolutely can’t wait to get out there on what is undoubtedly the best pitch in National League North, if not across the National League as a whole,” admitted boss Billy Shackleton.
“Playing at The Brewery Field will give us the chance to show Moors fans what we’re all about and help to inspire the next generation of female footballers.
“We all saw the magic of England’s historic win at the Euros during the summer and there’s no reason that the next Beth Mead or our very own Autumn Colledge isn’t in the stands at The Brewery Field watching us in October!
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the girls to play in front of what we hope will be a large Moors crowd and we hope that they turn out in force to help cheer us on in the games.”
The Ladies kicked-off their season at the beginning of September with a thriller on the road at Hartlepool United where only a last-gasp stunner denied them a share of the spoils in a 3-2 defeat.
However, hopes remain high for a positive 2022/23 campaign and skipper Alex Saunders says that playing at The Brewery Field will provide all the players with an extra layer of motivation.
“We’re all delighted to be playing two important games on the main pitch in October,” she told us.
“It will be brilliant to give our devoted supporters the real matchday experience but at the same time we’re hoping to welcome a new wave of fans so if you can come along and support us at the games it would mean the world to all of us.”
There will be cash only turnstiles in operation for both games and we’d urge as many fans as possible to come along and support Moors Ladies in action.
