Moors in the Community have continued their fantastic link-up with Spennymoor Youth & Community Centre to host regular social sessions for men and women in the town.
The popular Breakfast Buddies initiative is held at the Community Centre on Monday mornings and welcomes men of all ages between 10am and 11.30am, while there is also a session at The Brewery Field on the final Monday of each month.
As well as being able to enjoy a range of free hot sandwiches and refreshments, those who attend get the opportunity to socialise with other males through sport and conversation.
Meanwhile, the Ladies session has been up and running successfully for a number of years and is hosted by the Community Centre between 1pm and 3pm each and every Monday.
“One of the top priorities at Moors in the Community is to do what we can to help tackle issues with mental health for men and women in the region,” explained Moors’ Community Development Manager, Luke Cowie.
“We all know that it’s often the case that men find it difficult to open up about their feelings so we’re trying to create an environment where they can come along and socialise, get involved in the chat and make some new friends.
“Other than the social aspect of the group, we’re also looking to incorporate an element of light exercise within the sessions through a variety of low intensity seated routines.
“After working with the group for a while now, we know the women welcome any new challenges and all new members so if you enjoy a chat and a game of bingo then this is the place for you.”
No registration is required in advance so if you would like to get involved then simply turn up Spennymoor Youth & Community Centre at one of the below times:
Men: Mondays (10am – 11.30am)
