We turn our focus to Saturday’s National League North action with a full and in-depth preview of Buxton’s visit to The Brewery Field.
Spennymoor Town v Buxton
Saturday 8th October 2022, 3pm
National League North
The Brewery Field
In Opposition
Buxton have proved stubborn opposition so far in 2022/23 after earning their place in the division by winning the Northern Premier League title last term.
Like Moors, The Bucks have perhaps drawn more games than they would have liked this season with no fewer than six of their 10 National League North outings ending all-square.
Former Moors boss Tommy Miller joined Buxton during the summer as Assistant Manager to Jamie Vermiglio, who left Chorley in May to take up the reins at Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.
And The Bucks will come into this weekend’s game on a high following their excellent win at Bamber Bridge last Saturday which saw them make it through to the final qualifying round of the FA Cup.
One To Watch
Sam Osborne could be handed his Bucks debut at The Brewery Field on Saturday after he finalised a move from National League North rivals AFC Fylde earlier this week.
The 23-year-old forward scored six goals in 39 appearances for The Coasters after joining them from Leamington in January last year.
A former Notts County player, Osborne is regarded as one of the most promising talents in the division so Moors defenders will need to be on their guard if he features on Saturday.
Head To Head
This weekend’s meeting will be the first encounter between the two clubs since they last shared a division back in the 2016/17 campaign.
In that season, both games ended in score draws, with the last meeting at The Brewery Field being a 1-1 draw in February 2017.
On The Whistle
Darius Bradley is set to take charge of Saturday’s National League North fixture at The Brewery Field, and he will be assisted by Sam Parnaby and Madjid Ali.
