Moors Ladies enjoyed an afternoon to remember on Sunday as they thrashed Gateshead 4-1 in the Durham County Cup in front of 269 supporters at The Brewery Field.

The result was rarely in doubt thanks to a dominant performance from Billy Shackleton’s side who raced into a three-goal lead inside 31 minutes to effectively end the tie as a contest.

A close-range header from Kira Whittle was added to by a clinical double from striker Autumn Colledge before Gateshead pulled one back just before the break.

However, substitute Sophie Farrugia added gloss to the victory with an audacious lobbed goal late on to ensure Moors Ladies progressed to the next round in style.
