Jason Ainsley has urged his players to step up to the plait and deliver this weekend when they welcome high-flying Banbury United to The Brewery Field.

The Moors boss has been left frustrated by back-to-back defeats and has challenged the squad to offer a strong response on Saturday as they look to climb the National League North table.

However, Ainsley knows his side can expect another tough assignment against The Puritans, who are carrying momentum following last year’s promotion as Southern League Premier Central champions.

“They remind me so much of where we were three or four years ago,” Ainsley told Moors TV.

“They have come up with a feelgood factor, have nothing to fear and the results are showing that, and they are playing some excellent football, so we have to make sure we’re really on top of our game.

“The results and performances haven’t been good enough so the lads who go on to the pitch on Saturday have to try and cement their places and help drive the Club forward.

“We obviously have short-term goals and long-term goals, but Saturday is a massive game for us.”
