Preview: Moors v Banbury United

We turn the spotlight on Saturday’s action at The Brewery Field as National League North newcomers Banbury United provide the opposition.

Spennymoor Town v Banbury United
Saturday 22nd October 2022, 3pm
National League North
The Brewery Field

In Opposition
Banbury United stormed to the Southern League Premier Central title last season, amassing over 100 points and blasting 92 goals during a campaign to remember.

The Oxfordshire outfit have carried that momentum into 2022/23 and have enjoyed an excellent start to life at the higher level, arriving at The Brewery Field this weekend sitting third in National League North.

The Puritans remain unbeaten on home soil this season having continued their prolific form in front of goal, though they did suffer a setback last weekend when they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Bracknell Town.

A well-run club with big ambitions, Banbury are making impressive progress on and off the pitch and will offer stern opposition for Moors on Saturday.

One To Watch
Front man Jack Stevens was snapped up by Banbury United following his release from Oxford United a year ago and he played a key role in their promotion last term.

Still only 21, the former Hungerford Town and Chippenham Town striker has netted three times so far this term and is someone that Moors will have to keep a close eye on this weekend.

Head To Head
This weekend’s game is the first ever meeting between the two clubs.

On The Whistle
John Mulligan is the man in the middle for Saturday’s National League North contest at The Brewery Field, and he will be assisted by Jonathan Gill and Daniel Ranson.
