Preview: Moors v Scarborough Athletic

We turn the focus on this weekend’s National League North action as we bring you everything you need to know about Moors trip to The Flamingo Land Stadium.

Scarborough Athletic v Spennymoor Town
Saturday 29th October 2022, 3pm
National League North
The Flamingo Land Stadium

In Opposition
Scarborough Athletic have enjoyed a wonderful first season at this level after winning promotion via the play-offs from the Northern Premier League last term.

The Seadogs appointed former Manchester United and Middlesbrough midfielder Jonathan Greening as their Manager last summer and his first campaign in charge was one to remember.

Greening has managed to maintain that momentum as the club stepped into National League North and they lie fourth in the table ahead of this weekend’s game against Moors.

Athletic remain unbeaten on home soil this season having won four of their six outings at The Flamingo Land Stadium, though they have struggled for form on the road in recent weeks.

One To Watch
Lewis Maloney became Scarborough boss Jonathan Greening’s first signing when he joined the club last summer following a spell with Marske United.

The talented midfielder came through the ranks at Middlesbrough and also starred for Gateshead and Whitby Town before his move to Scarborough where he has become a key player.

Maloney has already helped himself to five National League North goals this season so Moors will need to be aware of his threat when they make the trip to North Yorkshire this weekend.

Head To Head
Since Scarborough Athletic reformed, the two clubs have met just once and that was in the FA Vase back in December 2010 when Moors ran out 3-0 winners.

On The Whistle
Dean Watson will take charge of this weekend’s encounter at Scarborough, and he will be assisted by Jamie Waters and Emily Carney.

Tickets
Moors fans can buy their tickets in advance by heading to Scarborough’s Online Ticket Portal.

However, cash turnstiles will be in operation prior to kick-off on the day of the game.
