Spennymoor Town Supporters’ Club has handed over a cheque for over £4,000 to help the Club invest in heat lamps which will assist in maintaining The Brewery Field playing surface.
John McGill, Chairman of the Supporters’ Club, presented the cheque for £4,125 to Moors’ General Manager Ian Geldard and Head Groundsman Mark Sleightholme on the pitch prior to Saturday’s game against Gloucester City.
“It’s an amazing gesture and one we’re extremely grateful for,” commented Sleightholme.
“These heat lamps will make a vast difference to the work we can do in the goalmouths on the pitch, and they will form a crucial part of our equipment, particularly in the coming months.
“On behalf of everyone at the Club and the groundstaff, I want to offer a sincere thank you to everyone involved at the Supporters’ Club.”
Heat lamps are used by clubs up and down the country to provide the perfect light conditions required for good grass to grow, particularly in goalmouths, when natural daylight is limited.
