Moors Ladies have added firepower to their squad with the arrival of talented young star Lily Jackson after a successful trial.
The 16-year-old Spennymoor-born striker has been sparking plenty of interest from a number of clubs in the region, but Moors boss Billy Shackleton has acted quickly to secure her signature.
“I’m really pleased to be adding Lily to the squad,” Shackleton told us.
“She has bags of potential; she will add pace to our front line and has a great record of finding the net. She’s really impressed me and the coaching staff, so we’re excited to see her in action.”
The teenager will now be hoping to move into contention for a Moors Ladies debut on Sunday when they make the trip to face Guisborough Town in the NERWFL Northern Division.
“I’m excited to play for my hometown – I’ve been playing football since I was 8 and I have always said I would love to play for Spennymoor Town,” added Jackson.
“I have been following their progress for some time now and I am proud of what they have already achieved.
“The staff and players have made me really welcome at the Club and the positive feedback they have given me has been a massive help as I look to continue my football journey.”
