Peterborough Sports v Spennymoor Town
Saturday 12th November 2022, 3pm
National League North
The Bee Arena

In Opposition
Peterborough Sports have enjoyed a solid start to their first season at National League North level and sit 14th in the table ahead of Saturday’s fixture at The Bee Arena.

It’s been a meteoric rise for a club which was playing in the Peterborough local leagues as recently as 2013 before an astonishing five promotions in nine years saw them move on to the National stage.

Under the watch of legendary boss Jimmy Dean, Sports have not been intimidated by the jump in standard, winning 3-0 in their first away game at Southport and claiming great wins over the likes of Chester and Banbury United, and thumping Blyth Spartans 4-0 at the start of September.

Monday night’s triumph at Bradford (Park Avenue) brought to an end a run of five without a win for Dean’s men and they will be hoping to build on that when they play host to Moors on Saturday.

One To Watch
The experience of Michael Gash has been a huge bonus for Peterborough Sports this season as they took their first steps into life on the National League North stage.

The much-travelled front man landed at Peterborough last summer and he scored one of the goals which helped them overcome Coalville Town to clinch promotion in 2021/22.

Gash began his career at Cambridge City but has gone on to play well over 600 senior games and has always provided a regular supply of goals, scoring in Sports’ win over Bradford (Park Avenue) on Monday.

Head To Head
Saturday’s game will be the first time the two clubs have met in competitive action.

On The Whistle
Jamie O’Connor will be taking charge of this weekend’s encounter at The Bee Arena, and he will be assisted by Adam Burgess and Wayne Cooper.
