Preview: Moors v Boston United

We turn the spotlight on this evening’s National League North action with a full and in-depth preview of Boston United’s visit to The Brewery Field.

Spennymoor Town v Boston United
Tuesday 6th December 2022, 7.45pm
National League North
The Brewery Field

In Opposition
A sluggish start to the 2022/23 campaign saw Boston United make a change when they replaced Paul Cox in the dugout with former King’s Lynn Town boss Ian Culverhouse in September.

Culverhouse’s arrival provoked a three-game winning run, but this was immediately followed by four defeats in succession as The Pilgrims struggled to find the consistency which took them to the Play-Off Final last season.

Saturday’s 3-0 triumph of Leamington was a timely boost after back-to-back losses so Boston are likely to arrive at The Brewery Field in high spirits this evening.

The weekend win lifted them up towards National League North’s middle ground, but Moors can move back within one point of their hosts if they claim a home victory tonight.

One To Watch
Front man Jake Wright offers great experience to the Boston United squad having won promotion from the level with Harrogate Town in 2017/18.

A former Sheffield United youngster, Wright has a keen eye for goal and has netted four times this season so Moors will have to be on their guard against him in this evening’s encounter.

Head To Head
Tonight’s game represents the eighth competitive meeting between the clubs and Boston are still awaiting their victory, while Moors have won five of the last seven encounters.

The Pilgrims’ last visit to The Brewery Field back in January ended in a 1-1 draw when Glen Taylor’s first-minute opener was cancelled out by James Hanson’s strike just before half time.

On The Whistle
The man in charge of this evening’s game against Boston United is Shaun Taylor and he will be assisted by Thomas Wilson and Kirk Freeth.
