Preview: AFC Telford United v Moors

We turn our attentions to the weekend action with a comprehensive preview of Moors’ National League North trip to New Bucks Head.

AFC Telford United v Spennymoor Town
Saturday 7th January 2023, 3pm
National League North
New Bucks Head

In Opposition
AFC Telford United move towards the second half of the 2022/23 National League North campaign knowing they need an uplift in form to drive away from trouble at the bottom of the table.

The Bucks currently prop up the rankings having tasted victory just twice in the league all season, though they have picked up a couple of points from consecutive draws in their last two outings.

They came agonisingly close to securing three points on New Year’s Day when they led 1-0 at Chester only for the hosts to level things up in the last minute.

Kevin Wilkin was appointed as boss in October following a seven-year stint at Brackley Town and will hope to use every ounce of his experienced during the coming months.

One To Watch
Bucks boss Kevin Wilkin moved to sign defender Adam Livingstone on a short-term deal from Hednesford Town earlier in the week and he looks set to make his debut on Saturday.

The 24-year-old left-back brings extensive experience to the Telford squad having played in his native Scotland for Motherwell, East Fife, Morton and Clyde.

Only Boston United have conceded more goals in National League North this season than Telford so it will be hoped that Livingstone can provide a calming influence at the back.

Head To Head
Moors haven’t enjoyed a great record against Telford in recent years having won just once in the previous 12 meetings between the clubs.

The sides played out a 1-1 draw at The Brewery Field in the opening week of the current campaign when Mark Anderson dragged Moors level after Matthew Carson had put the visitors in front.

On The Whistle
The man in the middle on Saturday at Telford will be David McNamara, and he will be assisted by Niall Felton and James Lunn.

Tickets
Moors fans are advised to buy tickets online in advance where possible ahead of the game as there will be no cash turnstiles in operation on the day.
