Young defender Ryan Wombwell has admitted he jumped at the chance to join the Club after Jason Ainsley made the 21-year-old his second signing of 2023 on Friday.

Moors have paid an undisclosed fee to Gateshead for the services of the versatile youngster, who is most comfortable at right-back but can play across the defence or even in midfield.

After putting pen to paper on an 18-month deal at The Brewery Field, Wombwell told us he can’t wait to get started in a black and white shirt.
