Moors Ladies face a tough challenge on Sunday as they head to National League Norton & Stockton Ancients in the quarter-final of the County Cup (1.30pm kick-off).
Moors have been on a strong run having won seven of their previous eight fixtures. However, they will have to be at their very best to defeat their higher league opposition this weekend.
Norton themselves are having s solid season, with survival in the National League looking likely, and they may fancy their chances of going all the way in the County Cup.
It will be a very different Moors side that takes on Norton this weekend in comparison to that which lined-up for boss Billy Shackleton’s first game in charge back in June.
“We know Sunday will be a challenge, but it’s one we’re really looking forward to,” insisted Shackleton.
“We know how good we are and it’ll be a brilliant opportunity to test ourselves against really strong opposition.”
Shackleton is set to have almost a full squad to select from this weekend, with Julia McGovern still sidelined as she continues to recover from an ankle injury and skipper Alex Saunders expected to miss the tie.
Sunday’s game will take place at Norton & Stockton Ancients’ home ground on Station Road in Norton – kick-off is 1.30pm and admission if £3 for adults and free for Under-16s.
