Moors Complete Deal For Lebrun Mbeka

Jason Ainsley has further strengthened his Moors squad after clinching a deal to bring in Lebrun Mbeka from Boston United for an undisclosed fee.

The versatile 26-year-old is comfortable in the centre of defence or midfield and has joined Moors on a contract until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Born in DR Congo, Mbeka first caught the eye in English football during spells across Yorkshire with the likes of Sheffield FC, Tadcaster Albion and Ossett United.

However, it was his consistently outstanding performances in the colours of Guiseley which really enhanced his reputation and earned him a move to Boston last summer.

Mbeka impressed in opposition to Moors at The Brewery Field earlier this season and has remained on the radar for boss Ainsley who is delighted to have secured a deal to bring him to the Club.

“This is a big signing for us,” admitted Ainsley.

“We’ve been chasing him for a while, and it didn’t look like it was going to happen, so we’re delighted to get it over the line, and we thank Boston United for their help with it.

“He’s played against my teams a few times and ever since the first time I saw him I could tell he was a tough cookie – and I think Glen Taylor will vouch for that too!

“He can play at centre-half or he can go into midfield too, as he did against us earlier in the season for Boston – he’s the right size, the right age and the right character.

“I think we miss that sort of presence in defence if James Curtis comes out of the side so Lebrun has that presence and physicality, he knows the division and he already has friends at the Club too.”

Mbeka, who has been handed squad number 20, is the fourth new arrival at The Brewery Field since the turn of the year, following the acquisitions of Dan Langley, Ryan Wombwell and Callum Ross.
