Preview: Moors v King’s Lynn Town

We turn our focus on to Tuesday evening’s National League North action with a full and in-depth preview of King’s Lynn Town’s visit to The Brewery Field.

Spennymoor Town v King’s Lynn Town
Tuesday 7th February 2023, 7.45pm
National League North
The Brewery Field

In Opposition
King’s Lynn Town have given themselves a good opportunity to go on and clinch a return to the National League at the first time of asking following last season’s relegation.

Tommy Widdrington’s side sit second in the table and just a point behind leaders AFC Fylde ahead of this evening’s action at The Brewery Field.

The Linnets have enjoyed a superb campaign and had won five of their last six games in National League North prior to Saturday’s surprise 1-0 defeat at Buxton.

King’s Lynn have not lost back-to-back games all season, so will head to County Durham hoping to protect that statistic, though they will come up against a Moors side high on confidence after two consecutive victories.

One To Watch
Josh Barrett has been one of the standout players for King’s Lynn Town this season as they challenge to make an instant return to the National League.

The talented attacking midfield star has been with The Linnets since October 2021 and was known to boss Tommy Widdrington from his spell on the books at Bristol Rovers.

A former Republic of Ireland youth international, Barrett is a creative spark in the Town midfield and will need to be kept quiet at The Brewery Field this evening.

Head To Head
Tonight’s game will be just the third competitive encounter between the sides, who last shared a division in the 2019/20 National League North campaign.

The Linnets ran out 3-0 winners on home soil in the last meeting in January 2020, while the game at The Brewery Field that season finished in a 2-2 draw.

On The Whistle
Gareth Thomas will be the man in the middle at The Brewery Field this evening, and he will be assisted by Mark Bell and Stephen Birkett.
