Ladies Look To Maintain Strong Form

Moors Ladies will aim to maintain their momentum on Sunday when they play host to Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves at EDC’s Houghall Campus in Durham (2pm kick-off).

After a wonderful away win at Chester-le-Street United last time out, Billy Shackleton’s side will be full of confidence as they look to extend their unbeaten league run to nine games.

It’s a run of form which has seen Moors climb to third in the NERWFL Northern Division table, just six points behind leaders Wallsend but with a game in hand.

Norton sit six points behind Moors ahead of the weekend meeting but the visitors will be hoping to offer a positive response after suffering a 6-3 defeat against Gateshead last weekend.

“It really is getting tight at the top, and every game is vitally important if we want to achieve promotion from this league,” Shackleton said.

“I’ve looked at the table countless times this week and I still believe there are four or five teams who can realistically win the division; the key is to keep up momentum and ensure we don’t let teams take points from us.”

Shackleton is likely to have a strong squad to select form his weekend, though Holly Middleton won’t be in contention as she recovers from injury.

““To go away to Chester-le-Street and win in the way we did was brilliant,” added Shackleton.

“They are a good side and they’ve proven that this season because before they played us they beat Norton who we know are a top side.

“Now we have to do the same, taking that performance and building on it.”

The game is being played at the Houghall Campus of East Durham College in Durham, kick-off is 2pm and admission is free for all supporters.
