It was a memorable week at Spennymoor Youth & Community Centre as Moors in the Community’s Half Term Holiday Camps proved a huge success – and we’re already planning to repeat the programme in April.
Things kicked-off in style on Tuesday as a capacity group took part in cricket and football, whilst also enjoyed some arts and crafts time.
On Wednesday the youngsters were once again kept entertained with a variety of activities, including dodgeball, handball and more arts and crafts tasks.
The third and final day was Friday and it was another successful session as the children participated in a Mini Olympics using the flags they had designed themselves in the arts and crafts sessions!
They then moved on to a group football tournament before finishing the afternoon with some free playing time which included a huge amount of fun jumping on the bouncy castle!
As part of Moors in the Community’s new partnership with McDonald’s, the fast food giants delivered meals of the children who attended on Friday – and that went down very well!
“It’s been a really enjoyable week for everyone involved,” said Moors’ Community Development Manager, Luke Cowie.
“We’ve been able to engage a large number of local children in a range of enjoyable physical activities across the three days and you could see from the smiles on their faces how much fun they were having.
“I would like to say a big thank you to our young helpers, Heidi, Alyssa and Lillie who spent the whole week with us on work experience and were invaluable in delivery of the sessions.
“I also want to thank Michael at Spennymoor Youth & Community Centre for providing us with the facility all week and McDonald’s whose support we are extremely grateful for.”
We’re now delighted to be taking bookings for our April Half Term Holiday Camps which take place over two weeks next month so make sure you book early to avoid disappointment.
