Jake Day Joins Spennymoor Town

Moors have added further strength to their attacking options with the signing of 6ft 4ins forward Jake Day on a short-term deal.

The 30-year-old front man was a free agent after cutting short a stint at Marske United recently and Moors boss Jason Ainsley has moved quickly to bring him to The Brewery Field.

Day first made his mark during a prolific spell in the colours of Bridlington Town where he found the net 85 times in just 107 appearances.

The hard-working striker has also represented Tadcaster Albion, Alfreton Town and Guiseley, while he won promotion to National League North with Scarborough Athletic last season.

Day began the current campaign with Whitby Town before linking-up with Marske but has now put pen to paper on a contract with Moors which runs until the end of 2022/23.

“I am delighted to have Jake here,” said Ainsley.

“It has come a little bit out of the blue because he contacted me after leaving Marske to say that he was desperate for an opportunity after recently training with Boston and he still feels that he can do a job at this level.

“It is definitely an area we all know we need to strengthen, as Glen is our only target man, and if he’s unavailable then it can be a major concern for us.

“Jake has a wealth of experience and he wants to come in here until the end of the season and then we will take things from there.

“We’ve got some exceptional forwards, but we haven’t got that type as an option, so he fits the profile perfectly and we’re pleased to bring him to the Club.”

Day has been handed squad number 29 and he will go straight into contention to make his debut when Moors make the trip to Boston United on Tuesday evening.
