Preview: Moors v Peterborough Sports

We turn our attentions to the weekend action with a full and in-depth preview of Peterborough Sports’ National League North trip to The Brewery Field.

Spennymoor Town v Peterborough Sports
Saturday 11th March 2023, 3pm
National League North
The Brewery Field

In Opposition
Peterborough Sports have given a good account of themselves during their first season at National League North level after winning promotion from the Southern League last term.

The club has been on an incredible journey in recent times having celebrated no fewer than four promotions in nine years to find themselves in the sixth tier for the first time.

A 1-0 triumph over Bradford (Park Avenue) last weekend ended a run of five games without a win and edged them ever closer to confirming their place in the division for next season.

One To Watch
Jordan Nicholson scored the only goal for The Turbines in their win over Bradford (Park Avenue) last Saturday and he is definitely a dangerman as Peterborough Sports head to The Brewery Field.

A tricky winger blessed with good pace and the ability to take on his defender, Nicholson is one of the creative sparks that has helped Peterborough establish themselves at the higher level.

The former Peterborough United and Barnet star has fought back from a broken leg which kept him sidelined for a portion of the club’s promotion campaign.

Head To Head
Saturday’s game will be the second competitive meeting between the two sides following the draw played out at The Bee Arena earlier this season.

John Lufudu had given Moors an early lead when he fired in from close range but the hosts rescued a share of the points when Maniche Sani levelled ten minutes from time.

On The Whistle
Ben Wyatt will be the man in the middle for Saturday’s game at The Brewery Field, and he will be ably assisted by Dan Ranson and Tom Wilson.
