Greaves Delighted To Clinch Moors Move

AJ Greaves has revealed that glowing references from a couple of Moors old boys ensured he jumped at the opportunity to join the Club on loan from York City this week.

The midfield ace put pen to paper on a deal which will see him remain at The Brewery Field until the end of season and is in contention to make his debut in Saturday’s home game against Brackley Town.

Greaves explained that he’s come close to joining Moors in the past and was always keen to push the move through after having positive conversations with former players, Jordan Amissah and Joe Cummings, as well as boss Jason Ainsley.

“I’m really looking forward to getting started with Spennymoor,” the 22-year-old told us.

“This is the third time it’s come around and I’m not quite sure why it didn’t happen on the previous two occasions but I am really pleased it’s happened now because I’ve always been keen to play for the Club.

“I got told on Wednesday morning that there was an opportunity for me to go on loan and there was also another club involved – but I told them I would much rather come to Spennymoor.

“I know a couple of people who played here before in Jordan Amissah and Jo Cummings – they’re good friends of mine and they only had great things to say about the place.

“I also had a good chat with the gaffer on the phone and, to be honest, for the first ten minutes he didn’t even mention football, he was just making me laugh.

“But when he got serious and told me about the Club and the ambitions for the rest of the season it was really appealing, and it just made me want to come and join even more.

“I also spent an hour just researching a bit about the Club and I’ve watched a couple of the games on YouTube so see how the team play and everything about it just felt right for me.

“I just want to come here and really enjoy my football, hopefully the fans can enjoy watching it and I can help Moors as much as possible to try and reach the play-offs.”
