Jason Ainsley has moved quickly to reinforce his attacking options with the signing of highly rated front man Zak Goodson on loan from Altrincham until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old front man joined Altrincham last summer when they paid an undisclosed fee to take him from Ilkeston Town where had topped the scoring charts with 21 goals as they won the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands title last term.
Goodson’s reputation was further enhanced when he scooped the NPL Rising Star Award for his contribution to ilkeston’s success, which included a number of eye-catching strikes.
A graduate of Derby County’s Academy, Goodson went on to fire 16 goals in 23 games for Long Eaton United before enjoying a similarly prolific stint in the colours of Basford United.
Moors boss Ainsley was keen to add fresh blood after a recent spate of injuries which has seen Glen Taylor missing with an ankle problem and Paul Blackett forced off during Tuesday’s win over Leamington.
Now Goodson, who can operate through the middle or from out wide, has agreed a deal which will see him remain at The Brewery Field through to the conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign.
He’s been handed squad number 7 and will go straight into contention for a Moors debut when we play host to Brackley Town in National League North on Saturday.
