We turn our focus to the weekend action with a full and in-depth preview of Moors’ National League North trip to Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.
Buxton v Spennymoor Town
Saturday 1st April 2023, 3pm
National League North
Tarmac Silverlands Stadium
In Opposition
Buxton have breathed new impetus into their drive for a play-off place with three successive National League North victories ahead of Saturday’s encounter with Moors.
The Bucks have enjoyed an astonishing turnaround in form under new boss Craig Elliott, who took over from Jamie Vermiglio at the beginning of December.
Having gone eight games without a win and four successive defeats, Buxton have now gone 13 unbeaten in a run which has seen them win eight times since the last week in January.
They currently lie two points ahead of Moors and just four points from a play-off spot so Saturday’s showdown at The Tarmac Silverlands Stadium could be pivotal to both sides’ seasons.
One To Watch
Attacking midfielder Tom Elliott has been one of the standout performers for Buxton as they put together a fine unbeaten run to carry them within touching distance of the play-offs.
Elliott scored three and set-up a further three during March and his form will be one of the key factors at The Bucks chase down a place inside the top seven.
Head To Head
Moors head to Buxton hoping to avenge a defeat suffered at The Brewery Field back in October when Connor Kirby’s first half goal was enough to separate the sides.
When the two teams last shared division back in 2016/17, both games ended all-square with Moors last visit to Buxton finishing 2-2 in October 2016.
On The Whistle
The referee for Saturday’s game at Buxton will be Jonathan Maskrey, and he will be assisted by David Critchlow and Bradley Maw.
