Moors Ladies will aim to underline their promotion credentials on Sunday when they play host to Thornaby in the NERWFL Northern Division at New Ferens Park in Durham (2pm kick-off).
After running out 6-0 winners when the sides met on Teesside last weekend, Billy Shackleton’s side will be full of confidence as they gear up for the important return fixture.
Moors moved top of the table with last week’s thumping victory and, with just five games of the season remaining, have given themselves a wonderful chance to challenge for the title.
However, boss Billy Shackleton knows they cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal at this crucial stage and is demanding that standards are maintained for the duration of the run-in.
“We can’t rest on our laurels,” he insisted.
“The 6-0 win last week was a good result but it certainly wasn’t the best performance and we’ve given Thornaby some ammunition to come and get one over one us this weekend.
“We have to take our fixtures one game at a time and it’s imperative that we remain focused and get the three points on Sunday to keep on track to achieve our goals.”
Shackleton will be without Loren Salkeld for this weekend’s game, but he is boosted by the return of the influential Coral Colledge who missed last Sunday’s victory.
The game on Sunday kicks-off at 2pm at New Ferens Park in Durham where admission is just £2 on the turnstiles.
