Throughout the Easter Holidays, Moors in the Community provided two weeks of fun-filled activities for youngsters in Spennymoor.
Across six days, over 220 young people attended our completely sold out Holiday Camps which took place at Spennymoor Youth & Community Centre.
Children were treated to a range of different multi-sport activities as well as being given the opportunity to take part in various arts and craft sessions.
Those in attendance were all provided with breakfast and lunch, as well as five hours of activities for as little as £5 per day, offering outstanding value for money for our town’s youngsters.
And as if that wasn’t enough, the kids were also visited each and every day by members of Moors’ Men’s and Ladies Teams who joined in with the activities and fielded any questions!
“It was fantastic to come down to the Holiday Camps, get involved and see how much the children were enjoying them,” said Moors Assistant Manager, Jamie Chandler.
“The work that is going on in Moors in the Community is first class and these kinds of Camps give an opportunity for local youngsters to be active and take part in activities to stimulate the body and mind.
“It was also brilliant to see the buy-in from the full Club with men and women players going along to meet the kids and join in – it was just great fun and I look forward to playing a part the next time.”
Ladies Team boss Billy Shackleton, who also attended alongside some of his promotion-chasing players, was thrilled to be invited to take part in the Holiday Camps too.
“The Ladies Team has been gaining great support from young people across the town, so it was only right that we gave something back,” he told us.
“It’s been fantastic to see some of the same youngsters who have cheered us on at The Brewery Field at the Holiday Camps – and they all seemed to have a great time.”
Now the focus switches to May when another round of Holiday Camps has been added to Moors in the Community’s developing diary of events.
“We’ve already got a huge amount of interest in the Camps we’ll be hosting next month so we’re hoping they can be even bigger and better,” added Community Development Manager, Luke Cowie.
