Moors Eye Durham Challenge Cup Joy

Moors aim to round-off 2022/23 with some silverware on Wednesday evening when they take on Hebburn Town in the Durham Challenge Cup Final at the Stadium of Light (7.30pm kick-off).

Jason Ainsley’s side have enjoyed a great run in the competition this season and now stand potentially 90 minutes away from getting their hands on the trophy.

Having beaten Shildon, Chester-le-Street United, Bishop Auckland and Dunston UTS on their way to the Final, Moors will now be determined to finish the job off with victory in Sunderland.

However, they know a big challenge awaits them against a Hebburn side managed by former Moors defender Bobby Moore which came agonisingly close to promotion during the past campaign.

The Hornets finished third in the Northern Premier League East Division but were denied a promotion after being beaten on penalties by Long Eaton United last Tuesday evening.

Moors are expected to name a strong squad for the game, though Glen Taylor is unavailable after not featuring in any previous rounds of the competition and Callum Ross is cup-tied.
