Moors Ladies return to action on Thursday evening when they make the trip to face fellow high-fliers Washington in their penultimate NERWFL Northern Division fixture of the season (7pm kick-off).
Billy Shackleton’s side clinched promotion with victory over Pools Youth Women last time out and now they’re setting their sights on a strong finish to the campaign ahead of their elevation to the Premier Division.
Moors were held to a 1-1 draw by Washington when the sides met earlier in the season, and it’s expected that Thursday evening’s encounter will just as fiercely competitive.
There will be extra incentive for Moors too, with the knowledge that Washington remain the only side in the division that they have not beaten so far this term.
Shackleton will have to shuffle his pack for the game after the news that full-back Olivia Mole will miss the rest of the campaign with an ankle injury sustained against Pools Youth.
“It’s never good to be without players but it’s a squad game we have a capable side,” he explained.
“We know Washington are a good team; they were difficult opposition when we faced them last time, but they’ve had a few difficult results and I think we are the better side – we need to prove that on Thursday night.”
Kick-off is 7pm at the Northern Area Playing Fields in Washington where admission is free for all supporters. You will also be able to follow the action across Moors Ladies’ social media channels.
